Considering renting your home to someone and want to be sure the person you're renting to will be a solid, dependable tenant? Instead of using a reliable tenant screening service that can offer you an indepth look at credit, criminal and eviction history, why not hire a psychic? A palm-reader? Or maybe a tarrot card reader? And then take it a bit further and hire that psychic to manage your property so they can predict when things are going to go wrong. With trained professionals in property management available to hire, this seems like a far better solution. Right?!?!
I just stumbled across an article that was in the New York Times from a couple years ago where several landlords were doing just that and they swore by this psychic's ability to "psychically screen" a prospective tenant. In all my years of property management, I never hired a psychic! Matter of fact, I always told my site managers to never operate on a "hunch" as that's opening a can of worms for a descrimination lawsuit. Instead, trust the process of doing a thorough background check and don't skip any steps. There is nothing psychic about picking up on something "fishy" that might indicate someone will be a rental risk. Au contraire! I liken it more to the powers of observation. And if you have a "hunch" that you might have a terrible sewer leak, you're probably not a psychic. It's probably your nose you should thank.
